1:1 iPads & Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)
Over at Jackson School we are undertaking planning for our implementation of our 1:1 iPad program in 2014. Initially we were looking at supplying each student with their own iPad. However, as you can imagine, this is an extremely costly venture and not necessarily the best approach. Enter BYOiPad.
After much online and field research my colleague and network manager, Matthew Gravatt and I decided that a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) approach was going to be the best choice.
Here's a great article that was recently published by The Age on the benefits of BYOD policies.
There is a tremendous amount of work ahead for the iLearn team at Jackson School, in order for our 1:1 iPad program to be successful. I will be publishing more documentation and links for readers in here and through my blog. You can download a copy of our recently published BYOiPad Information Booklet for Parents & Carers. This document covers almost everything parents would want to know about buying an iPad for their child to use in school.
